New Year, New Look + new inspirations

Well one of my resolutions for this year was to redo my website..... so here it is! What do you think? I started working on the new site last November and although there are still a few bugs, I must say I am pretty happy with the way it looks.

My goals for the blog this year are more videos, more how to's, and more collaborations with other bloggers. As a ceramic artist I resolved to try new designs in my work and collaborate with other artists on some interesting products. For my home it is to redo my upstairs bathroom and clean out every last closet in my house! I think these are all good and attainable goals don't you?

The biggest one for me though is to learn to step back from life and breath...to enjoy every day, without judging it ......it is after all a journey as they say.

Some talented women that are inspiring me for 2015...

Sunday Suppers is a communal cooking centre in Williamsburg Brooklyn. The website and Instagram of the very talented Karen Mordechai are not only visually inspiring but the beautiful suppers in the Sunday Suppers studios look like wonderful gatherings of food and community.

Line Kays blog that I featured a couple of weeks ago Vintagepiken is a huge source of inspiration. Her sense of style and her photos really speak to me. White, moody mixed with rustic styling…so lovely.

This year I discovered the work of Dietland Wolf, stylist, photographer and ceramic artist and am endlessly inspired by all of her work.. So creative in all that she does, her ceramics have the wonderful organic quality that I love but with a refined yet complex glazing technique that brings them to a whole other level.

Perfect Party Home

This house looks like the perfect place to have a party don't you think? Amazing kitchen area that opens up to a big table and the back yard and a living room that does the same. So great with guests going in and out of the house moving around from one room to the other....The house is for rent through Light Locations and it would be wonderful for a photo or video shoot as well. Lots of light and well styled it presents so well.

Go onto their website to see all the photos of this house and the many more they have for rent. Gorgeous!

Enjoy!

Adding Colour to White

I saw this apartment on Domaine Home and fell in love! That bedroom is so good! The Mora clock is such a great colour and the carpet in the room pulls the colour from the clock, so there is a wonderful flow. The accessories are kept to a minimum in this room but big impact is added with the ceiling and side table lamp both in shades of gold. I like how the blue from the clock is used again in the throw in the living room to keep the colour moving throughout the space.

This is such a good example of colour used in an all white space. I always say the beauty of going with white is that you can change it up quickly and easily with the use of great accessories and pops of colour here and there.

Interior Courtyards

I showed the third picture in a post a couple of days ago and it got me thinking about interior courtyards. I love this idea of having an open space in the center of the living area. It creates a beautiful division in the property as well as opens up the entire home to a shadowy kind of light. Add a little garden or a lap pool and you have a incredibly special oasis.

Happy weekend all!

Stylish Leopard

I have always loved a little bit of leopard in home decor and fashion. Twice today I saw leopard that really inspired me.....This coat that Giovanna Battaglia is wearing at fashion week in Paris is just stunning and so is the ottoman in the first photo...so gorgeous. In home decor it needs to be subtle and the same in fashion except when you have a coat or full dress it can be an amazing look.

Hope you are having a lovely weekend!

Fantastic Apartment

I have talked about the site Fantastic Frank before and how they feature the most fabulous apartments for sale. They style and photograph each home so well and make it so appealing I want to buy them all! When selling your home it is so important to style to sell. Remember to remove personal items like photos and such. Keep the tones neutral and easy for someone to see their furniture in the space. If you have too much furniture think about renting a storage unit for a couple of months so you are not crowding your current home...you want potential buyers to see the space and too much furniture could be a problem. Do any small or necessary renos before putting it up for sale. You will be amazed at how much more you can get on your selling price and how much faster it will sell.

Last year I renovated a clients condo for sale...in a market flooded with condos....we did a quick reno on her kitchen and two bathrooms and she sold it in a week! It really works so think about it before you sell!!

Interiors: Glass Walls

If I was building a home today especially a condo or loft I would try to incorporate a glass wall. These are really brilliant don't you think? They let the light come through but block some of the noise and more importantly they add an element of design that is very chic. I think it would be great for a kitchen...you can see the action but your guests don't have to hear the noise you are making in the kitchen..the fan...the dishwasher etc...I especially love the black metal or the rough steel. Gorgeous!

Island Home

This is a dream home on Harbour Island and can I tell you it is....well I find it an amazing WOW! It feels delicate, beachy, refined, colourful and all white at the same time. The walls and ceiling are so perfect with the white washed wood and the great marble floor. The touches of coral throughout the home is so beautiful and what about the kitchen. Such a good idea to add that gold and white wallpaper. Really just perfect!!

Simple Farm Style

Love the simplicity in this Swedish farm house. No frills here with white wood and vintage pieces thoughout. Pretty accessories make the perfect statement in this house and I love the black metal handrail on the stairs! The bed is vintage brass and it looks like the dining room light fixture is also...

Have a happy weekend!!
