Country Home with Sarah Richardson

I used to watch Sarah Richardson on HGTV all the time and I always loved the homes she redid. They all had something similar about them that is so easy to live in and yet so beautifully done. She loves to put a lot of seating into her homes and she makes them comfortable, cozy and ready for guests. I really like this open plan space with the kitchen and living room together with all of these wonderful pale sea tones....but the rooms I like best of Sarah are the bathrooms. She does the best bathrooms, always in grey marble and chandeliers and lots of bright chrome and mirrors. Just what I want!!

Cottage in Cornwall

This beautiful house in Cornwall was designed by photographer Paul Massey. A longtime fashion, news and interiors photographer Paul has recently created some amazing homes himself. What I love the best in this house though is the kitchen design...oh this is really so great! The subway tile all the way to the ceiling looks fantastic, the great finish on the cupboards and the wooden countertop all add up to an inspiring space. The kitchen is open to the living room area which is decorated in a really simple and beautiful way with comfortable, stylish furniture. The whole house feels easy and cozy. Nothing fussy or precious just a really comfortable welcoming space.

Inspiration in White: Potted Christmas Trees

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

Originally we were going to go away for Christmas with my family out in British Columbia this year but as it turns out we have decided to go after the holiday instead so.....that means I need to think about how to do my decorating and my Christmas tree! I do the same type of tree year after year......yes I love it but I need some fresh ideas. I have been looking for inspiration and one thing I am sure of is that I am going to go for a smaller tree and use my olive pot as a holder. I feel like having a more rustic look this year and I think the pot would look great with a tree as you see in the inspiration photos. I also love the fact that they are so simply decorated. I always have the feeling to put more decorations not less, but these trees are so gorgeous I think I will try to go for a much simpler look. I will show when I am done!!

Shabby Christmas Cottage

Well here it is, my first Christmas post! I know it is not even December and it is Thanksgiving Day for my friends in the south but it snowed the past couple of days so I am feeling like the holidays are just around the corner! This house is a great first Christmas post...too many good things to mention, the lamp in the kitchen, the painted floor, warm furs in the living room and of course..the tub! Loving the bathroom and of course the bedroom.

Hope you are having a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends and family..xx

Sophisticated Shabby Decor

What can I say about this house...so many good things....it is really fabulous! Sophisticated yet shabby it has all the elements I love in a white home. Great floors, painted in some rooms and some with the original wood colour, antique and vintage furnishings and architectural elements and an easy unstructured kitchen with a Smeg fridge! What about that amazing kids room....so creative and fun. Love it!

Hope you are having a great weekend! It is getting cold in Montreal and we even had a few flakes of snow today!

Enjoy!

English Farmhouse

I have always loved this farmhouse look...very relaxed, mixed vintage and antique. What is great with this house is a bit of the mid-century thrown in as well. The kitchen is not at all traditional, with a big table as the island and a large freestanding armoire as the storage space....and of course a Smeg fridge! This farmhouse is in Sussex, England and it really has the wonderful features of an old English house don't you think. The beams are just amazing and add such warmth and character. Hope your week has started off well!

Pale Grey with Modern Vintage

Oh this is such a great little space! It is one of those homes that when I go to write the title of my post I could use a list of words because it is such a mix of styles! Modern, vintage touches, a little shabby thrown in, industrial....and it is all good together. I love the light in the dining room and the pretty colour and cabinets in the kitchen. The super shiny floors are amazing and the bedroom looks so dreamy! I have been seeing a lot of this style of flooring similar to what is in the bathroom and in the entry. I showed it in a bathroom post here...really looks great.

Enjoy!

Inspiration in White: Ladders and Tools

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

I always like the look of ladders and wooden tools around these shabby vintage homes. I have also seen them in more modern homes on occasion and thought how they add interest to a stark wall almost looking more like art than antique. I put a small ladder with books in my husbands office. It is a really cute old vintage ladder with some red paint on natural wood. I also have an old wooden shovel in the same office that gives the room a kind of old world feel. Lots of examples here of great ways to use a ladder in different rooms!

Stylish Dreamy Home

One of my wonderful followers sent me a heads up about this fantastic home from Houzz....thanks Lisa! She was so right when she said this home is glorious....a really special place. This couple took six years to renovate and it was worth the effort. Some of the details I love...well to start the hanging lamp and ladder in the dining room. Aren't they fantastic? Also we have a glimpse of the garden table turned desk just off the sitting room. I would love a table like that! The birch railing and the numbers on the stairs are so great. Love these kind of little additions that make a home special....and of course the porch with curtains and a daybed. I could go on and on but I am having company for supper, it is three in the afternoon and I have not started cooking or preparing my table. Yikes! Enjoy your evening!
