Feels Like Italy to Me

I have had a Tumblr blog for a couple of years and I love checking out the other amazing blogs on Tumblr. So many great collections of photos with interesting themes. I came upon this Tumblr blog called Bread and Olives and I find the name suits the wonderful collection of photos so well! I find myself really entransed by these pictures! I love Italy and the South of France and these pictures transport me there...wandering through old villages, eating fantastic food, the markets, smoky cafe's and wonderful decor. There is this ancient feeling with old wood, stone and terra cotta tiles, mixed with peeling paint....a vintage lovers dream. Take a look at some of my other favourite posts on Italy and France..

Enjoy!

Inspiration in White: Textured Walls

There is something about textured walls that I really love...I am not talking about the old fashioned sponge painting here..I mean the "Hey look I tore the wallpaper off the wall and I like it" kind of texture! The rough feeling of old paint, brickchipping wood, torn wall paper and peeling plaster.... contrast that against chic, sophisticated furnishings and lighting.

In the photos below the walls are shown with shabby chic, industrial and French style and they look amazing in every picture. Now of course you have to have the right type of home...but does it have to be a really old home? Can you achieve this look in...say a new industrial loft? Of course you could and it would be amazing! Take a look and let me know what you think?

Enjoy!

Beauty and Simplicity

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

It has been a rather difficult week in my life and when life events happen you usually take time to reflect on what is important. Living life with simplicity, an open heart and love around you is really all that matters.

The beauty and simplicity of this space really touched me and is especially meaningful at this time. It is lovely to see small collections in the home that are precious to the person living there and make a space special.

These images were taken by Mikkel Vang for Vogue LIving and it is worth going to see his website and some of the other wonderful images he has shot. A true talent for sure.

Enjoy!

Rustic Charm in the French Countryside

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

This is the country home of a couple with two children about an hour away from Nice in the South of France. I have been to Nice a few times and I love the area. The home was basically a barn when they bought it and began renovating it. They turned it into a cozy family home filled with wonderful Ikea pieces while keeping all the rustic charm of some of the original features of the barn. I love the fact they have kept solid doors in the house to a minimum and put curtains instead to keep the flow very open. The glossy white kitchen is a great contrast to the stone shown throughout the house and the kitchen table fits perfectly with the indoor/outdoor vibe of the home...but my favourite part is the pale green of the shutters on the exterior...so perfect against the stone don't you think? Check out other homes that I have posted about from Ikea Family Live HERE and HERE..

Enjoy!

Beauty in Madrid

This family in Madrid has incorporated their work life into their home space in such a beautiful way. Antiques are their business (Antiq-BR) and you can tell by the incredible furnishings throughout the home (yes most of these pieces are for sale by the looks of the website)! They also have a textile business that I have long admired called Ana and Cuca. Take a look at the incredible rough wood floors contrasting the wood of the antiques that almost looks as gold as the chandelier..so perfect. This is one of those homes that gives me a chill when I look at it..so many special details. The bedrooms are also so great, one dorm style, and the other looks like a fabulous master with one spot of greeen in the bedside lamp.

Enjoy!

Mix of Style in Spain

This gorgeous house, photographed by Enrique Menossi, has a really relaxed style. At first it felt French to me but after looking through the photos a few times there is a real mix and that is what I love to see! A little French, a little Gustavian, a bit of Moroccan style (what about that bath!)...but not to much of a Spanish style at all. I love the bedroom with the dainty bed...oh such a crush on that room....with the heavy curtains, the bed layered with covers and that high ceiling! I also really like the little boys room, that could easily be a little girls room.... So beautiful with the draping on the bed.

This home is such a good example of how versatile decorating in white really is! It applies to every style and elevates the elegance and beauty of every space!

Enjoy!

French Beauty

I am just loving this pretty house in France with all of the detailing on the walls and ceiling. Beautiful whites and neutral tones with warm woods and shots of black to anchor this gorgeous space. So cute with the clocks on the wall and the saying "Time is Suspended" below and so many other little accessories to look at throughout this home. For me though it is the dining room that I find the most beautiful with the industrial lamp in this sophisticated room......I so love to see when there is something that you think would be totally wrong together in a one room and yet it looks so right!  Looks so good! I have been in Old Quebec for the past few days and have been looking at the most wonderful architecture so this post feels just right!

Inspiration in White: Open Shelving

When I moved into my house the kitchen had already been renovated but if I was redoing it today I would put in lots of open shelves. I could show my collection of ceramics..(oh don't worry I have a lot displayed on open shelves in the dining room!!)..or ironstone (which I totally love....a new collection perhaps?). I think the look of open shelves gives such a relaxed feeling to a room and.....when shelves are filled with a vintage ironstone collection, as so many of these photos are, the effect of the different whites together is gorgeous!!

Enjoy!

Industrial Vintage Style

I really like the mix of vintage and industrial style in this wonderful home in Normandy, France (an area that I love!) So many great things in these photos including the big clock in the living room, the light bulbs in a basket and take a look at the lighting everywhere...so clever and fun! Every room has something interesting and imaginative to look at...I think they love their home and it shows in the care they took in each room...what do you think?

Grand Simplicity

The home of London designer Rose Uniacke is timeless in its simplicity and beauty. Lovely detailed architecture plays well against gorgeous antiques and modern pieces. This home is sooo sophisticated...golds, cream and white mixed with marble and wood give the home a calm and comfortable feeling even with the vastness of each space. So refined and classic that even the stools at the island in the kitchen have gold legs! What a beautiful job Rose has done with this home...

Enjoy!
