New Year, New Look + new inspirations

Well one of my resolutions for this year was to redo my website..... so here it is! What do you think? I started working on the new site last November and although there are still a few bugs, I must say I am pretty happy with the way it looks.

My goals for the blog this year are more videos, more how to's, and more collaborations with other bloggers. As a ceramic artist I resolved to try new designs in my work and collaborate with other artists on some interesting products. For my home it is to redo my upstairs bathroom and clean out every last closet in my house! I think these are all good and attainable goals don't you?

The biggest one for me though is to learn to step back from life and breath...to enjoy every day, without judging it ......it is after all a journey as they say.

Some talented women that are inspiring me for 2015...

Sunday Suppers is a communal cooking centre in Williamsburg Brooklyn. The website and Instagram of the very talented Karen Mordechai are not only visually inspiring but the beautiful suppers in the Sunday Suppers studios look like wonderful gatherings of food and community.

Line Kays blog that I featured a couple of weeks ago Vintagepiken is a huge source of inspiration. Her sense of style and her photos really speak to me. White, moody mixed with rustic styling…so lovely.

This year I discovered the work of Dietland Wolf, stylist, photographer and ceramic artist and am endlessly inspired by all of her work.. So creative in all that she does, her ceramics have the wonderful organic quality that I love but with a refined yet complex glazing technique that brings them to a whole other level.

Inspired Space, Beautiful Blog

I am in love with the gorgeous blog of stylist/photographer Line Kay of Vintagepiken. Her home is styled to perfection and her photographs are so beautiful! Really I could look at her blog over and over. It is peaceful and thoughtful, creative and inspired..just like her home. You must go and look at her photos not only of her home but of the many wonderful ways she styles food, flowers.....and just about everything else with the utmost taste and sophistication.

Perfect Party Home

This house looks like the perfect place to have a party don't you think? Amazing kitchen area that opens up to a big table and the back yard and a living room that does the same. So great with guests going in and out of the house moving around from one room to the other....The house is for rent through Light Locations and it would be wonderful for a photo or video shoot as well. Lots of light and well styled it presents so well.

Go onto their website to see all the photos of this house and the many more they have for rent. Gorgeous!

How to Style a Coffee Table

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

I change up my coffee table and console table styling very often. It is such a fun thing to do and makes the room feel fresh and new. Here are a few ideas to help you with your own styling:

1. Use a pot of flowers layered into the styling. I like to keep flowers either very high or very low. The height of the flowers depends on the height of the other elements in your styling.

2. Use a tray to hold your styling together. I like to layer with a tray on part of the table and then layer outside it as well if you have space.

3. Layer with books. I like to have a stack of decorating or art books on the tray beside the flowers and then layer another piece on the top book.

4. Use a small dish as the top layering piece. I take one my lookslikewhite dishes and fill it with shells, marble eggs, small stones or any other natural element.

5. There are so many other elements to use in table styling like plants, statues, artprints, antlers, candles and so much more. Use items that have meaning to you and that make you happy to feature them where you can see them everyday!

French Inspired Home

This lovely home has a light and easy French inspired look that feels modern and new. The black accents in this home are so striking and the pretty chandeliers  in dark tones are the perfect pairing to this. Contrasting the pale floors with the white walls creates the right balance and the added touch of pale pink makes a nice feminine touch. Nicely done!

Industrial Styling

I really love the look of this apartment and the styling is just so perfect...So many small vignettes and each room filled with fun and clever details. From the blackboard and the cool prints in the living room to the perfectly placed boots and boxing gloves in the bedroom there is not a detail that has been overlooked. The grey headboard is such a fantastic colour and the trunk as side table all adds to the industrial feel of the space....very well done!!

Beautiful Mirrors Over Furniture

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

I hang or lean mirrors all over my house and I have at least one mirror in every room.  I find it adds light, reflection and a bit of shine. I really love hanging mirrors over consoles or buffets or any kind of furniture really. I never hang my mirrors too high as I want them to be part of the grouping below as you can see in the first photo....which is in my dining room. I also love it when the mirror is really large compared to the furniture it is hanging above. Super tall or as wide as the furniture it makes a statement every time and is always a focal point in the room.

Small Space Style with Rue

Rue Magazine has featured the fabulous apartment of artist Katie Rodgers and talk about style packed into a small space. Only 500 sq ft and every corner has something interesting to look at! I love the styling of this apartment and the extra little touches, such as the turtle magnifying glass, add an extra personal feeling to the space. So great the extra punch of colour in the bedroom as well. Go visit Rue to see all of the photos...

Vintage Home in Australia

This is an amazing home in Queensland with gorgeous upcycled vintage pieces. Many of the favourite finds of these homeowners came from auctions and were then repainted, reupholstered or resurfaced. Pretty turquoise shutters with a rattan basket and sisal carpets creating wonderful texture in the living room.....of course the blue and white ginger jars are perfect as well.  I also love the green on the base of the kitchen table and the pretty map in the bedroom....
