Good Book: Decorate With Flowers

I don't know about you but I could not live without fresh flowers in my home. Every couple of weeks my husband goes out to the market and buys a few bunches of flowers and we make bouquets throughout our home. He is the best at picking the freshest flowers and he is pretty good at arranging them too! I usually buy white flowers, but in the summer I love a bunch of bright flowers on the table or some of the fresh flowers, hydrangeas and peonies, from my garden.

I was so happy to see that Holly from Decor 8 had a new book out and it's all about how to decorate your home using flowers. I have her other books and I just love them and I also love her blog here. Such great ideas here on using different containers, putting together different flowers and decorating a space with flowers. There are tips on how to get playful with flowers and how to create arrangements that are uncomplicated and inexpensive without sacrificing style. Take a look at some of the images from the book and visit their website Decorate With Flowers here...

Designer Home: Kali Cavanagh

This wonderful restored cottage is the home of designer Kali Cavanagh. A mix of new and old, designer and vintage it has so many fun elements throughout. I love the bathroom just off the master bedroom with the big iron tub in the room just outside the bathroom where barn doors make a fun entrance. Super lights hanging from the ceiling in the all white bedroom with vintage linens and wood slat ceilings. The kitchen has the most amazing stove in a wonderful pale blue and a wall of subway tiles (a look I keep seeing in photos all over the internet). Dark walls in the living room mixed with leather create a super cool lounge vibe and just outside the antique doors is a terrace with a place for two to enjoy a little breakfast. Love this home!

Have a great weekend!

Inspiration in White: Rustic Table and Food

I have a board for food styling on Pinterest and I really love the look of a rustic style for the table and for the food. I think these food and table pictures are perfect together and give great ideas of how to mix and match vintage plates and for setting the table! The look of a simple, easy table with this beautiful and simple food is so appealing. One of the things I like best about looking at photos of food styling though is the great ideas it can give you for cooking! Yummm..

Designer Home in Denmark

This is the Denmark home of jewellery designer Marie Von Lotzbeck. What do I love in this space? Well, the wall unit in the living room would be number one! It is so well styled with only a few books and many beautiful accessories that gives it so much presence. The cement floor would be number two...this gives it a very industrial feel contrasting the other elements in the home. Third would be the rustic wooden furniture and the wood pillars that add wonderful character to this home.

Inspiration in White: Stylish Storage

I never seem to have enough storage in my home for anything..I mean my dishes are stuffed into my kitchen cupboards and I have not one but two buffets in my dining room to hold even more. My towels seem to fall on the floor when I open the linen closet from lack of space and well, don't open any of my bathroom drawers! I love the armoires, shelving and buffets in these photos that make storage, stylish and easy. Most of the furniture in these photos could go in any room and look great. I could use them all!!

Inspiration in White: Room Dividers

An open concept home or loft is always beautiful but sometimes you just need to create the feeling or illusion of a separate space. There are so many interesting ways to divide a room apart from the usual screen and below are just a few I found. I love a really open divider between a living room and dining room or hallway....perhaps an open shelving unit or glass doors. For a little more privacy a curtain or full screen made of wood or even wood slats is fun and lets the light filter through. Shutter or old doors also look great for a nice vintage touch. I have been looking for studio and found a great open loft space today and I am sure I could use some of these ideas to help divide the space. I am looking forward to it!

Simple Styling

It is amazing how even when I am not trying to find a Scandinavian style home I somehow fall upon one anyway. Today as I was researching for my post tonight I came upon one of the pictures below and went looking to find out more information about it. Sure enough I came upon the website of the Dutch stylist Kim Timmerman....a talented woman that does production, styling and concepts for homes. Her eye is amazing when styling the various homes you see on her site...really great detail and I love how the website is broken down by colour so you can look at homes that have touches that are pink, yellow, white and many more. This house is so great with greys, a bit of brown and white. So many fun details in the home as well with the writing on the clear glass kitchen door and the mini cozy bedroom, cool lamps and pictures put up with washi tape. Very talented indeed!

Enjoy!
