Modern Greenwich Village Home

This is the Greenwich Village home of designing Ariel Ashe featured in Domino Magazine. Such a pretty modern home but with many of the original architectural elements that give it a bit of the old world feel. Nice pops of red here and there against a great black and white base. Love the gallery wall and the way she has done the curtains in the living room emphasising the high ceilings.

Hope you are having a lovely week!!

From Vintage to Modern

This house from Domino Magazine has it all from vintage to modern and yet it still works. Very eclectic with a modern tufted sofa and an antique gateleg table in the same room. Super modern sconces in the living room with a shabby style chandelier in the bedroom, yet they both feel like they fit well. I really love the kitchen with the great wallpaper and all of the gold touches. There is so much texture in this home, from the sheepskin throws to the cowhide settee and the amazing variety of rugs and cushions. Very well done..

Black and White Modern

A very chic, modern home from Est Magazine that is completely done in black, white and grey. I love the use of the black tile on the wall in the kitchen and in the bathroom...and the back stove as well..so nice.

Well it is the start of a new week! Hope you all had a great long weekend and for those of you in Canada that celebrated Thanksgiving, I hope you had a lovely day with family and friends.

Understated vs. Overstated Rooms

I love the clean simplicity of a Swedish home, yet in my own home I tend to collect things from dishes to mercury glass that has filled every corner, table and floor space available. Though I love the look of an understated home I tend to the overstated....lots of stuff! I want to live with many things around me that make me happy and I just think in an understated home....what would I look at...what would I move around....what would I collect? Pretty impossible but my admiration for those people that can edit their home, to show off all the details of each carefully picked item, knows no bounds! Here are a few examples of under and overstated rooms. What do you like?

Lovely Loft

This is such a great looking loft from Remodelista....so amazing. Modern with rustic touches and French style vintage furnishing...that is bold. Not a single rug on the all white flooring and the open concept is the perfect place to have this type of floor. Walls of windows to bring in the light....well I could go on and on.....it is very well done to be sure.

Best of Neutrals

Another gorgeous home from House Beautiful all done up in dark neutral shades against white. I love the look of this which is always sophisticated and easy. This look never goes out of style and remains a classic over the years. Modern yet cozy it is a winner for sure. Loving the heavy marble counter on the island in the kitchen and the lovely chaise longue in the family room and bedroom. Of course an outdoor shower is always a wonderful addition to an outdoor space as well.

Stunning Lake Retreat

Oh this is one of those homes where I need to go through each picture to check every detail! Love, love, love....The mix of rustic yet completely elegant style is something I adore and yet it is not so easy to do well in a home. This is the home of artist Dawn Raulet Hall that I found in Atlanta Homes and you can see that she has an artists eye for detail...check out the living room! An antique red trimmed love-seat mixed with raw stump tables, a twig rocking chair and a beautiful sculpture...who would have thought it could look this good?

The log canopy bed is just gorgeous and what about the bunk room!! Oh this house is very swoon worthy for sure....

Inspiration in White: Pop of Colour

This is such a great way to change up an all white room. Adding a pop of colour with some kind of accessory...a pillow, a rug or even a flamingo (??) really changes up the look of a room. What is so great about adding colour to white is how you can change up the look so easily. Add a bright pink cushion and when you have had enough just change it out for another bright or keep the room looking cool and modern with an all neutral look.

Aren't these amazing rooms! Have a great week!

Natural Home

This house in Sonoma has the most wonderful natural elements....stone fireplace, wood walls and vintage wood furniture. Super modern with tall windows and and a superb open kitchen all in greys, taupe and white. The best part is the amazing covered table outdoors with the big stone fireplace that repeats the same stone as the one in the living room. Also love the mirrored shelves in the bathroom giving the room reflection and space...beautiful!
