From Vintage to Modern

This house from Domino Magazine has it all from vintage to modern and yet it still works. Very eclectic with a modern tufted sofa and an antique gateleg table in the same room. Super modern sconces in the living room with a shabby style chandelier in the bedroom, yet they both feel like they fit well. I really love the kitchen with the great wallpaper and all of the gold touches. There is so much texture in this home, from the sheepskin throws to the cowhide settee and the amazing variety of rugs and cushions. Very well done..

Pins of the Week: Bohemian

So what does it take to have a fabulous Bohemian apartment....well plenty of colour and some prints for sure. A lot of random accessories put in slightly odd places and mixed with other odd vintagey (I am making up words now) furniture and a general disregard for a specific style of decorating....In other words a creative sense of what you like and are not afraid to go for it! I love these rooms!

Have a great long weekend all!!

Inspiration in White: Pink and Orange

The beautiful weather outside has got me feeling pretty much into hot colours these days. I especially love all of the oranges and pinks I am seeing. These work so well with a bohemian kind of style either with just spots of colour or even with walls of colour. Mixed with a bit of yellow or turquoise or a splash of green and you have got a fantastic look.

Something that is really catching my eye these days are the colourful Boucherouite rugs like the one in the last photo....I have the perfect spot in one of my clients home for this. It looks so good against all the white in the room don't you think?

Beautiful in Bordeaux

This little townhouse in Bordeaux, France has been completely redesigned by Elodie the owner of the home. She has turned a small dark place into a fun and quirky vintage neo-romantic abode. I had shown a couple of photos from this house last week in this post but wanted to show you the rest. Each piece in the home is so well featured and the styling is just right.

Just love the entry with the dark blue half wall and the black and white floor. The open kitchen is great and I the love the lights....

Inspiration in White: Memorable Gallery Walls

We have all seen, and probably have one in our homes, pretty gallery walls. There are so many ways to make a gallery wall and there are some interesting ideas on Pinterest of how to install them and what shape they should take....but to do this in a modern way you really need to take a new approach.

I think the most memorable ones I see these days are a mix of frames, mirrors and unique items that create a story. What I love about some of these ideas is that the furniture or accessories that are below or around the gallery wall are integrated into the overall story. You can go very far with your wall if you take this approach and create something that has major impact in the room and shows off your style and personality as well. Here are some great ideas for you to try...

Bring on the Colour

Well if you are going to do colour in your home this is certainly the way I would do it! White, white and more white with a mix of many bright colours. Of course it is really the most perfect in the kids room....feels girly and fun. I think the bright rag rugs in the kitchen pull all of the colour together and give make the room feel casual and homey and the splash of black in white in the living room plays well with the colour. A pretty home for sure...

Inspiration in White: Yellow Accents

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

The beauty of having an all white home is that you can choose any colour you want as an accent. I have shown you ideas for adding green and blue but yellow adds a real touch of the bohemian to a room. It feels younger and more edgy than most other colours and it takes a bold person to mix more than a couple of pieces of this colour into a room.....but the beauty is you don't need much to get great impact. I just finished a clients bedroom that is white and grey with yellow, gold cushions and it looks amazing!

Enjoy!

Mixed Styles in this London Home

This London home has some really interesting features but almost feels as though the rooms are from different homes. A very relaxed kitchen and eat-in area (love the little stove nook) with white washed plank floors gives way to chevron floors in the hall and fun kind of kooky accessories. A pretty living room gives way to a sleek styled office and the upstairs features...well a combo bedroom/bathroom that is really quite amazing! Not sure how I would feel about having a tub in the middle of the room...would you like that? Certainly a showstopper no?

Enjoy!

Interiors: Home of Angelika Taschen

Every time I was in Paris over the last couple of years I would make a stop at the book store Taschen. I loved to look around at all of the art and photography books that they publish. The store has this vibe, very artsy and yet sophisticated and sexy....much like the apartment of the owner Angelika Taschen. This apartment is in Berlin and she says the new way to decorate in her city is to make the best space with very little money...and I think her apartment reflects her philosophy. She has not got a lot of pieces but they are meaningful to her and are all rather artsy and sophisticated..like her store. Most surprising is the kitchen with just one wall of counters and her table and a lamp. On the other wall is a gorgeous mirror, not really what you would expect to see in a kitchen but that is what makes it so great...Take a look.

Enjoy!
