Beautiful Mirrors Over Furniture

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

I hang or lean mirrors all over my house and I have at least one mirror in every room.  I find it adds light, reflection and a bit of shine. I really love hanging mirrors over consoles or buffets or any kind of furniture really. I never hang my mirrors too high as I want them to be part of the grouping below as you can see in the first photo....which is in my dining room. I also love it when the mirror is really large compared to the furniture it is hanging above. Super tall or as wide as the furniture it makes a statement every time and is always a focal point in the room.

Renovation Redux

This wonderful 90 year old home needed a major renovation that no one wanted to tackle. Eventually bought by a young family with many craftsmen in the family to help them along the way.  They did a lovely job keeping some of the original features and changing when necessary. The hallway tile that was moved from another room in the house is from the 20's and vintage lamps, mirrors and furniture are found throughout the space. Love the olive tree in the hallway!

The decor is really inviting and has been featured in many decor magazines and on numerous blogs. I can see why......hello gorgeous black Smeg fridge...

Pins of the Week: Tufting

I love the look of tufting on furniture even before it was back as a trend. I have always loved antiques and vintage furnishings and some of the old pieces in my childhood home were tufted. I have redone several pieces with tufting from the 50's and made it modern with heavy cotton fabrics or rich velvet. I don't see the current wave of this look going away too soon as some of the pictures below are from recent exciting projects. It is really a classic look that will stand the test of time.

Best Beach House Porches

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

So what does it take to make the best Beach House porch? Well I would say you need to have 5 things....

First I would say you need the best view! Why be near the water and not see it right. Nothing better than looking from your porch out onto the ocean or lake...so peaceful!

Second you need a great place to crash...cozy seating and lots of cushions for me. I love the idea of having a big cushy couch and maybe a porch swing or a rocker as well..so relaxing.

Third has to be a good spot for dining. Someplace that you can add nice lighting and enough room for friends and family to sit with you.

Four would be a good spot to sunbathe...just to lie out on a long chair and catch a few rays.

Lastly I would want part of the porch to be covered. A nice spot to get out of the sun but still take in that amazing view.

What would you need your dream beach house porch to have?

Fashion Designer Apartment

A lovely stylish bedroom from the home of former fashion designer Adrianne Vitadini and Veranda Magazine to lead off the post tonight. Don't you love the mix of antique pieces with simple modern furnishings! The use of these little stools, in front of the bed and then again covered in leopard skin in this living room, really adds a wonderful touch. I also like how the living room has been divided into two seating areas...both gorgeous. The dining room is a little more traditional that I usually like but it works in this space for sure.
