I really like to see one statement chair in a room. It can be something bright, a super print or an unusual shape or style. Contrasting against a white background pops the look even more.

I am so into black walls, rooms, furniture and ceramics these days. Love the extra texture these black walls have and the depth they bring to each of the rooms. With the white contrasting in the way of furniture or adjacent walls, the rooms stay bright yet moody...this will be a part of my future decorating for sure.

Today I bought this wonderful book called Creative Spaces by Geraldine James. A wonderful compilation of 20 homes divided into different design types such as "art-loving modernists" and "carefully curated purists". Firstly, I love the size of the book. It is large enough to see the pictures well but not so large it is hard to hold and the cover has a bit of texture which to me reflects what you find inside. This book is the third in a series from Geraldine, the others being Creative Displays and Creative Walls, and I have to say I love the feeling of each space she has chosen. They are very thoughtful rooms, not always my style, but always interesting. My favourite is John Derian's home in Brooklyn ( it is the cover shot). The way he has collected and styled his treasures is so intriguing that I looked at each picture over and over to take it all in. Really enjoyed this book and look forward to collecting the other two!

Love the mid-century modern look of this beach cottage. Clean and simple with a wonderful warm interior....and anything by the beach works for me especially this time of year!! Too cold here in Montreal!

Grey is such a perfect colour for this San Francisco home...bringing the fog and mist into this lovely modern home. The kitchen is a dream with the grey and white and those lamps over the island really make such a statement. Amazing wallpaper on the wall in the bedroom and I love the touch of pink. Following the grey theme into the bathroom with those tiles on the floor...brilliant!

This is such a cute cottage full of vintage finds. A great living room with cool shelves around the fireplace and the mix of wood and brick that is so well done. The bedroom is also a great space with the rough wood headboard mixed with blue and white. Bright kitchen with big windows and counter to ceiling subway tiles.

This modern rustic looks is one I have always loved. I am still seeing it on Pinterest and it doesn't seem to have lost momentum in design. How the pieces are being paired seems to be a it different…more eclectic with a new mix of elegant fabrics with marble, of course the antlers and a great rug to finish the room. Hope you are having a great week! I am in Florida soaking up a bit of sunshine and getting away from -20 degrees in Montreal!

The look of this little kitchen in this apartment would be so easy to achieve and I don't think a remodel of this sort would be very expensive.. Lovely subway tiles with dark grout looks so good against Ikea style cabinets and lighting. Wood countertops add the warmth this room needs as does the rough kitchen table. Very nice..
