Photographer Ditte Isager

I often go to the photographer Ditte Isager's website when I need inspiration. From food to fashion to home decor, each photo tells an amazing story. Her photography is clean and simple very much in the nordic style of her homeland. She does work for so many great brands from Vogue Living, Martha Stewart to Bon Appetit.

Take a look at the few shots I have here but be sure to visit her website.

Enjoy!

Swedish Style in France

A wonderful Swedish Style home today that hits all the right notes! Beautiful Swedish style pieces combined with French flair.

There is a lot going on in this room but it still works because of the delicate furniture.

A great paint color on the walls and the rug has just the right blend of tones to fit with the rest of the room.

Good storage and a fantastic piece of furniture!

Love the detail over the door.

A lot of detail in every room including the kitchen.

Just one of the bedrooms, there is another on the home page not to be missed! I really love the small chair/daybed.

Enjoy!

Porches and Patios

I always feel a little sad as summer comes to a close. Our winters here are long and hard and during the summer we are outside as much as possible. We sit out on the porch in the back looking at what new flower has come up and just generally enjoying our garden.

Every summer for the past 14 years we have vacationed in Maine (unfortunately not this year) and one of the things I love about Maine is the big porches on so many of the houses. I love it when there is a wrap-around porch, and I see the people that live in the house sitting outside watching the world go by.

Do you have a big porch on your house and how have you decorated it?

I love blue hydrangeas. Reminds me of Cape Cod!

Talk about an elegant patio!

Vintage all the way.

That is just like Maine!

Bright white with the black contrast and a pop of color, perfect.

Simplicity at its best..

Enjoy your weekend!

Eclectic Interior

The owner of this wonderful eclectic apartment is a photographer and interior designer, Benedikte Ugland. This very personal space is decorated with great details such as raw concrete, modern plexiglass furniture, vintage and industrial pieces. I love the contrast of the black flooring and counters, against the white walls and tiles in the kitchen.

Who says you can not mix styles! What do you think of this space?

Enjoy!

Pottery Love

I have been doing pottery on and off since I was in school but a few years ago I decided to take some classes and get a bit more serious about it. Where I live in Montreal there is a pottery studio 5 minutes walk from my home that has wonderful, experienced teachers and students. Well I went for my classes and I fell in love. I fell in love with the art and the process of doing pottery, on the wheel and building them by hand. It is such a time consuming endevour to make one small pot.... make the pot, trim the pot, dry the pot, bisque the pot, glaze the pot, into the kiln it goes again and then the full on anticipation of what can happen to your beloved pot (it never turns out how you thought it would!!)

I have been off this summer and have been in the pottery studio everyday. I love to work at this craft and I love to be around other artists that do it too. I admire great potters here in my studio and out in the world so today I am offering you a few photos of pottery that I love and a photo of mine as well.

Homeware Designer Tine K

The Danish company Tine K , which was started in 1999 by Tina Kjeldsen and her husband Jacob Fossum, features a wonderful, varied line of products for the home.  Her own home is super stylish with a clean, simple white interior. The house was built in 1846 and was purchased and renovated by the couple several years ago. I just love the dark contrasting wood and the pop of purple.

Enjoy!

Barn Style

I was recently looking for Barn Lights to use for a project I am working on and as I was doing my research I came across some of the most beautiful pictures of Barn Style homes! It is such an easy, relaxed style and even if you don't have the high ceilings or open spaces that is traditional barn style, you can still get the look by adding a sliding barn door and or barn lamps (I love these) to a kitchen or office (the office below if so cool with the black lamps!). Let me know what you think of this style. I would love to hear your comments!

Dutch Barn Style!

Here is a more chic, modern version of Barn Style.

These lights over the desk are perfect. Stylizimo

I suppose you could call this Wedding Barn Style? The lights made from galvanized wash buckets really make this so fun.

So sophisticated...

What can I say? So chic.

Pouffe Party

I know Pouffes (or Poufs, I have seen it both ways) have been in style for some time now but I am amazed at how many new and interesting patterns and styles I am seeing these days. There is definitely a color or texture to work with any room!! It is such a great way to add comfy extra seating to a big space or an easy place for the kids to sit and watch TV or just another place to put your feet up! Take a look at a few that I found....

Neutral room with a pop of colour and leather pouffe. Style at Home.

A nice knitted style pouffe used as a table in front of a bench and chairs!

Super cute knitted pouffe added to the end of the bed. Love the coordinating blanket on the bed!

Moroccan style leather pouffe for added seating.

Pouffe in Paola Navone's home from Metropolitan Home.

Cute knitted pouffe available on Etsy . Also comes in a ton of great colors. I like the rattan pouffe in front as well.

Burlap pouffe on Etsy

So what are your thoughts, yes to Pouffes or Poufs??

Industrial Style

If you haven't noticed I am a big fan of Paola Navone! The italian designer uses white in the most dramatic and interesting ways and I love what she does with all of the spaces she transforms. Take a look at this wonderful apartment she did in her hometown Spello.

Fantastic lamps with the most incredible high ceilings!

Great mix of tile and wood floor.

Lamps against the wall are such a clever idea.

This is modern yet she has created a cozy space in this very open environment.

The floor tile and this incredible tub. Wow.

Superb!

Enjoy!
